Antique / Vintage Old Chinese Republic Period (Pre-1950) Cherry Amber Faturan Bakelite Hand Carved Guanyin Sculpture - Approximately 500 grams. Many (21) images below description. Up for sale is a wonderful very dark red cherry amber bakelite hand carved Chinese Guanyin - Kwan-Yin sculpture on a nice carved wooden stand with openwork. Deep rich color shows in image. Without back lighting, it looks essentially black. Figure without stand weighs in the range of 498 - 501.5 grams.

Height 9 1/2 inches (24 cm) without stand and 11 3/8 inches (29 cm) including stand. Condition: Has some signs of age such as very tight hairline cracks visible on the surface upon close inspection. See images of the base and of the hair. Also some internal cracks, as shown in an image of the midsection with backlighting. Hole drilled in bottom, as it was once mounted to the wood stand.

Small hole drilled in the back of the stand, as well. When acquired, the statue was mounted atop a lamp base that pre-dated World War II. A beautiful piece that presents very well!
