Antique Victorian Natural Salmon Red Coral Hand Knotted Graduated Bead Necklace 39.2g 19th C RARE. The condition of the necklace is very good antique with some natural flaws, as coral is organic and it is not perfect.

It is graduated in sizes and there is a beautiful slight variations of colors. This rare coral is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way. A beautiful example of these early red salmon corals that is hand-knotted between each coral. The silk separator serves to stop beads rubbing, gives better hang and flow, and most importantly, stops you from losing your precious coral in the event of breakage. The Chinese believed coral had protective values, so it was very popular jewelry in 18th and 19th C.
